Big range numbers need a little context
A four-figure range claim is compelling, especially when your journeys stretch beyond the city. But the most useful question is not simply “Which car goes furthest?” It is “How far can this version go on electricity, and what happens when the engine joins in?” Those are different ownership experiences.
This guide focuses on long-distance extended-range and plug-in hybrid vehicles from the ChinaCarMart catalogue. It is not an exhaustive world record ranking. Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max, XPENG X9, Li L9, AITO M9 and ZEEKR 9X all deserve investigation, but their published figures use different tests and versions.
Electric-only range refers to battery-powered operation. Combined range uses a charged battery and fuel. A REEV/EREV uses an engine as an onboard generator; a PHEV can use a different hybrid architecture. Neither combined figure is the distance of a battery-only EV charge. CLTC, WLTC and WLTP figures must not be treated as interchangeable.

These are source-specific claims, not a descending leaderboard. In particular, the L9’s WLTC pair should not be ranked directly against CLTC claims. The ZEEKR row intentionally avoids attaching a single combined number to several different trims. Sources and configuration cautions follow each vehicle.
1. Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max — the long-distance seven-seater
Xiaomi’s investor presentation identifies the N90 Max as a seven-seat extended-range SUV and quotes 464 km CLTC electric-only range and 1,705 km combined range. The same slide separately lists the N70 Max: do not transplant that model’s 505 km electric figure onto the N90. It is an interesting starting point for buyers who need seven-seat flexibility and are willing to assess a newer model carefully. Put your usual daily distance beside the battery-only claim, then ask what margin remains under your actual load and climate. A large headline is less valuable than understanding whether your ordinary week can be covered with regular charging.
Verify before buying: production specification, destination support, charging compatibility and delivery status. Ask for the exact battery and range documentation rather than assuming every SkyNomad variant is identical.

XPENG’s 2026 configuration sheet specifies 452 km electric-only and 1,602 km combined range, both CLTC, for its 1602 Max, Ultra SE and Ultra extended-range versions. The badge therefore needs its powertrain suffix: an X9 BEV is not the same range proposition as the extended-range X9. 2026 configuration list.
Consider it when the trip is about carrying people comfortably rather than choosing the tallest SUV. A long-distance demonstration should include loading luggage with the third row in use, moving between rows and trying the seat position you will actually travel in. Good range cannot compensate for a layout that does not fit your passengers.
Verify before buying: match the 1602 configuration to the actual vehicle. Check depleted-battery fuel consumption and charging performance separately. The combined claim is not a promise of 1,602 km on your route.

Li Auto’s current UAE model page gives a particularly useful pair: 350 km electric-only and 1,370 km combined, both WLTC, with a 72.7 kWh battery. These are the figures used here instead of mixing in a larger CLTC headline from another market. Li L9 UAE range specification.
Shortlist it if your priority is a family SUV whose travel pattern mixes regular charging with occasional longer journeys. Work out how often you can charge at home or work, not just the maximum distance between fuel stops. The economics of an extended-range vehicle change if it is treated as a petrol car all the time.
Verify before buying: distinguish the all-new L9 from older stock, and request destination-specific specifications. If you tow, carry a full passenger load or drive long motorway stretches, ask for relevant operating information rather than applying the laboratory figure unchanged.

The current HIMA page specifies 422 km electric-only and 1,405 km combined, both CLTC, for its M9 extended-range Ultra test vehicle on 21-inch wheels. The page also advertises a separate battery-electric M9. Its figures cannot be substituted for the EREV’s. HIMA M9 range and footnote 20.
The M9 is worth considering when you want a connected flagship cabin as well as travel flexibility. Its model name spans several configurations, so start with a written specification and only then compare numbers. An attractive price on a previous model year may still be a sensible buy—but not if the decision rests on features or range belonging to a newer car.
Verify before buying: model year, battery, wheel size, powertrain and working connected services in your country. Request the actual configuration sheet rather than combining the highest figures from different listings.

Zeekr’s official launch information quotes up to 380 km CLTC electric-only range for the 9X and describes its SEA Super Hybrid platform. This is a plug-in hybrid, not a model we should casually relabel as a series-only REEV. The maximum range configuration is not automatically the highest-performance one. The reason to include it is its potential to make electric driving a substantial part of daily life while retaining a fuelled powertrain for longer trips. Look past the maximum-output trim if range is your main priority. Ask which battery, motor and wheel combination produced the quoted number.
Verify before buying: request the exact trim’s combined range and test cycle. We deliberately do not print an unqualified combined figure here, because that would make the comparison look more certain than the cited manufacturer evidence supports.

Start with your routine. List your normal daily distance, the longest regular trip and reliable charging opportunities. Then separate everyday electric driving from occasional fuel-assisted travel. If you can charge frequently, battery-only usability may matter more than a combined headline.
Compare matching evidence. Use the same test cycle, generation and wheel specification wherever possible. Do not apply a made-up fixed percentage to turn CLTC into WLTC. Ask for real journey evidence relevant to your speed, air-conditioning use, passenger load and terrain.
Plan stops anyway. Long range is flexibility, not a reason to avoid rest breaks or run energy reserves to the limit. A comfortable route with dependable refuelling and charging can be a better ownership experience than chasing a theoretical maximum.
Check ownership support. Confirm charging hardware, service access, software language and warranty arrangements in writing. These are model research links, not a guarantee that the exact advertised variant is immediately available in your market.
